Basics for travelling mommies and daddies

First of all, when travelling with your baby, you need to pack a looot more things than you normally would.

I feel packing all in one huge luggage is way easier than bringing a couple of smaller luggages. Because you will need to carry your baby too:) So the lesser the hand carry the better.

Things to pack besides clothes are: pampers , baby toiletries and most importantly : his milk and food.

Bringing milk of his usual brand is quite important in case he cant adjust to new brands while overseas.

During travels, kids may not always adjust to all the local food too so I would bring a couple of his favourite foods and snacks just in case. Eg. favourite cereals and biscuits.

I would also pack a cooling patch and small bottle of panadol just in case he has a bit of flu bug overseas.

Itineraries should not be too ambitious  as sometimes they need to nap in the afternoon. It's important to understand their sleeping pattern before travelling.

I recommend buying playtex milk bottle with refillable plastic inserts. This way you dont have to wash the bottle all day long. You just have to wash and dip the teat in hot water whenever you need to reuse.

We are all modern parents living in a hi- tech world. Bringing along your baby his favourtie distraction is useful too. eg. toys, drawing tools or more popularly iphone/ipad:)
We would download his favourite shows and games before travelling.

We dont give him iphone all the time but we do use it as a last resort distraction tool when we really need it.
So far, it's been so useful !:)

If he has a favourite sleeping pillow/ soft toy or blanket, you may want to bring it along too. Though for Sheldon, we have trained him to sleep without his favourite blankets when overseas. He is now quite a well trained traveller. Thankfully.

So can you still go out and have a nightlife, have a drink etc, if you travel with your baby?

Well I guess certain activities are quite out of the question. But if you have a nice balcony at your hotel, you can certainly enjoy a drink or two after your baby sleeps at night.:)

Picking restaurants to have your meals are important too. If the place is kid- friendly is even better. But make sure there's something in the restaurant that your baby can enjoy too.

If all else fails, well there's the emergency pack of cereal/healthy biscuits for him.

So, that's what I can think of so far.
